About the Event
Meet at the bus parking lot of Park Street Intermediate School and be ready to roll at 6 pm
Both ride groups are required to have helmets and lights.
Our group rides are posted on Columbus Outdoor Pursuits' (COP) website meaning we are covered under their umbrella insurance for the rides. To be eligible for this insurance yourself, you must register via their website. One registration will cover the entire season. Each rider needs to be registered! During your registration, you can select other rides that you may join that aren't Heritage Cycles' rides. It does ask for a one-time donation - while that is not required, the donation will go toward the insurance fee. COP recommends $20 for the season. CLICK HERE for the link to register for the season.
Please understand the laws of riding a bicycle on the road and practice safe riding. If you are unfamiliar, just ask us prior to the ride! It is also a great idea to look at the route provided. The routes will normally be posted a few days before the ride. We try to take wind/other weather conditions into account to make the ride more enjoyable 🤗. Routes are created via RidewithGPS. This is a free app to view the routes, but for a small fee per month, you can get turn-by-turn directions while riding, download other routes to use on your own, and even create your own routes.
There are 2 ride options:
Regular Bike Night
+ This is a group ride that is primarily on the road. The average distance for this ride ranges from 15-23 miles with an average pace of around 13mph. This is a no-drop ride meaning no one gets left behind.
Slow Roll
+ This is a group ride that is a shorter and slower ride that is welcoming to new riders, kids, or anyone that is just looking for a casual cruise. The average distance for this ride ranges from 6-9 miles with an average pace of 8-10mph. This is a no-drop ride meaning no one gets left behind. When bringing your kids out for the ride, please make sure that they understand what it means to be riding on the road. While we don't utilize many busy streets, we will be riding on roads with car traffic and crossing some major roads where necessary. If your rider can't ride the average pace or distance, practice a few times on your own before coming out on the group ride. Riders that are still using training wheels should practice without the training wheels before coming out to the group ride.
